RCS Partners with Techgirlz To Share Industry Knowledge

RCS Professional Services recently partnered with TechGirlz to bring tech knowledge to young girls throughout the New York area. TechGirlz Inspires middle school girls to explore the possibilities of technology to empower their futures. They accomplish their mission through the creation of free, fun, interactive “TechShopz” led by industry professionals, community leaders, and students. RCS’s own Esther Deutsch and Chloe Beck had the opportunity to join them and conduct a tech workshop in our RCS offices.

The topic of this event was to teach the girls basic marketing concepts and photography. Esther and Chloe taught the girls how to use Canva. They showed them how to take a photo they already had and enhance it by adding text and changing the colors. They explained to the girls that these are important skills to have when creating ads. Being intentional with the word placement and color is a crucial step to reach your audience. Also, having a photo in general in your ad improves your marketing. Articles with images get 94% more views than articles that don’t have images, and 60% of consumers would rather contact a business that uses pictures on their website.

The TechShop was very interactive for the girls as well. They were shown two ads at a time and asked to pick out the best one and explain why. This helped them to understand what consumers want to see in an ad and what is eye-catching to them. Esther and Chloe explained to the girls that in order to have a truly effective ad they need to understand the main message of the ad, identify the target audience, and provide a call to action. They also had them consider certain questions like what do they want the consumer to do once they see an ad, buy a product, or vote for a candidate and explained to them how asking these questions (and others like it) will help their ads achieve greater results.

Though we have temporarily suspended in-person workshops due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to lead virtual workshops with TechGirlz and others using Teams and Zoom.

RCS Professional Services was honored to join forces with TechGirlz to deliver this workshop to local girls. We love making a difference in the community so if you have a cause you would like us to be a part of message us at info@rcsprofessional.com or schedule a time to speak with us.
